Teyana Taylor's Estranged Husband Iman Shumpert on Her 2024 Met Gala Look: 'You Ate'

"Yeah you ate…but I ain't tellin you that s---," Shumpert wrote on X on May 6 after Taylor arrived at the annual fashion event

Teyana Taylor’s Met Gala look had a big fan — her estranged husband Iman Shumpert.

The former NBA basketball player, 33, appeared to praise Taylor, also 33, on social media for her red hot look at this year's Met Gala, months after the news broke that the singer and actress had filed for divorce.

Taylor wore a scarlet gown with a thigh-high slit and 1800s silhouette adorned with flowers and barely-there gold sandals for the annual fashion event. She elevated the look with a blonde updo and David Yurman jewelry, which included large gold dangle earrings and a thick gold bracelet.

“Yeah you ate…but I ain’t tellin you that s---,” Shumpert wrote as he seemingly complimented his estranged wife in a post on X on May 6 at around 9:35 p.m. after Taylor arrived on the Met Gala carpet.

Several fans agreed with his tweet, including one X user who wrote, “That she did!!!! The power of that blonde hair lil red dress combo!” Another fan commented, “Just tell her. Maybe those court proceedings will go a bit better afterwards.” 

In November 2023, the "Gonna Love Me" singer addressed the news that she had filed for divorce from the former Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard in January 2023 after seven years of marriage in a statement on Instagram.

"These statements were taken from private court documents that were leaked to the public. It is very heartbreaking that someone would take out the time to make such a private matter public for the world to see,” she wrote at the time.

She went on to say that "protecting my family is one thing I've ALWAYS done & for my children I will continue to do so," referring to her two daughters, Iman "Junie" Tayla, 8, and Rue Rose, 3, whom she shares with the retired athlete.

"Please if y'all love y'all play nieces Junie & Rue like y'all have shown, please allow my self & my family some privacy to resolve this matter in peace," she concluded the post, adding, "Love y'all."

Taylor confirmed the pair had separated in September 2023 as she spoke about keeping a united front with her ex as they moved forward as co-parents.

“In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while,” Taylor wrote in a post on Instagram. “To be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children.”

She added, “Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married, we ain’t ever played with or about THAT.”
